2018 Pumpkin Contest

This week we had our annual pumpkin decorating contest! Each classroom decorated a pumpkin with various themes, and then our parents also did some amazing pumpkins! Check out all of these pumpkins!!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere!

Our students were excited to explore pumpkins on the playground this week. There was all different shapes, sizes, and colors of pumpkins. They explored how they rolled, how heavy and light they were, and different ways to use the pumpkins for pretend play.

Fire Safety Week

This week is our fire safety week! Our Toddler Two class practiced being firemen and sprayed out the "fire" with their water. They discussed how fire is hot and spraying water on the fire will help cool it down.

We are Family!

This month is all about Fall is for Your Family at The Academy. Our Toddler Two class focused on family and home this week. They talked about immediate family members like mom, dad, brothers, and sisters. Afterwards, each child took turns finding their family members on the classroom family tree.

Getting a Jump on Childhood Obesity

Healthy habits are instilled at a young age, with most habits being formed during adolescence. We feel it important to instill good habits at an early age, addressing behavioral factors that contribute to overweight and obesity from the beginning.

The Gold Sneaker initiative was developed to enhance policy related to physical activity and nutrition within licensed child care facilities across Tennessee. Policies we've adopted include minimum requirements on physical activity, sedentary activities, breastfeeding, meal time, behaviors, portion sizes, and a tobacco-free facility.
