Continuing Education

At The Academy, we love to teach our teachers.  Tonight we hosted Sharon Townsend with Child Care Resource and Referral.  She came to present a wonderful training on discipline techniques that align with our social/emotional curriculum, Conscious Discipline.  Staying on top of current educational trends is a big part of our job.  We love furthering our education here at AoCS!

Jack and Jill Went Up the Hill

Check out these cute pictures of Toddler Two acting out Jack and Jill. Each child had their own puppet of Jack and Jill. They were able to take the puppets up the hill and the class had so much fun making Jack fall down the hill. This activity was the perfect time to talk about positional words like up and down.

Partner Painting in Preschool Two

Preschool Two has been focusing on positive relationships with each other. It is important for them to work together as a school family. Their partner painting project was the perfect opportunity to show teamwork and respect for each other. This project resulted in a beautiful painting that they created together.

Namaste

It is always busy in our toddler rooms. They are running around, playing, eating and changing diapers. Ms. Megan couldn't have a better idea than yoga to help the kids wind down before nap time. The kids always jump at the opportunity to pose as dogs, lions, cats and their favorite is the flamingo pose. During this time the class is able to focus on balance and deep breathing.

Here are just a few benefits of incorporating yoga with children:

1. It helps balance and coordination

2. It develops focus and coordination

3. It boosts self-esteem and confidence

4. It strengthens the mid- body connection

Irish Step Dancers

We ended the month of March with a visit form Irish Step Dancers. They showed us a few dances and everyone loved their beautiful costumes. The music had everyone dancing while they were watching the performance. When the dancers were finished a few of our friends were able to go up front and learn an Irish jig. St. Patrick's Day fun

We had so much fun learning all about St. Patrick's Day. Everyone was able to play fun games. The different stations were ABC Rainbow Hop, stacking rainbows (fruit loops), Shamrock Crowns, Taste the Rainbow game with Skittles and painting shamrocks. All our friends wore green so there wasn't any pinching today. Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
