Shearing the Sheep

We are wrapping up farm week by shearing some sheep...pretend sheep!  We used white balloons, shaving cream, a little imagination for the sheep.  Then we grabbed popsicle sticks to "shear" them.  It was such a fun sensory and fine motor activity and the kids loved getting a little messy!

Greetings from Toddler Two

Hello from some Toddler Two cuties!  We are growing so big.  We are walking better, talking more, and want to do everything on our own.  We are independent but still super loving and give the BEST hugs.  We love the outdoors and exploring new things!  Oh, and we also love The Academy!

Planting Flowers

We've certainly enjoyed our annual Green Our Scene program this month.  To wrap it up we added some curb appeal to our building by planting flowers.  Here's some pictures of Pre-K One and Preschool Two doing their part to help Earth.  We've learned a lot with Green Our Scene and will work to help our planet all year long!

Dog Agility Visitor

We've been learning about farm animals all this month and this week we focus on sheep and dogs.  So this Monday we had two very special visitors!  Two dogs came to show us all their skills including weaving, tunnels, and jumps.  They even used their sense of smell to find treats that were hidden on the playground.  Then the kids got to practice being a dog "handler".  The pointed and said "tunnel" and the dogs raced through!  It was so much fun.

The dogs were so well behaved.

 Trying out being a handler.

 Waiting for her next command.

Herding the Animals

Herding farm animals can be hard work!  And we found that out this week at AoCS.  We've been studying farm animals all month long and we learned lots of new words including the word "herd".  We used pink balloons for pigs, brown balloons for horses, and white balloons for sheep.  The kids used popsicle sticks to herd the animals through the gate from one playground to the other.  It was a great activity that combined both gross motor and fine motor skills.  We had a blast trying to get all those animals in one place!  Check out the pictures below.
