Camp Widjiwagan

Twice a year, all Academy teachers gather for professional development conferences.  Each conference is usually amazing but this year's spring conference was unlike any other!  It was held at Camp Widjiwagan in Antioch, TN where we focused on team building.  The morning was spent outside as centers raced around the camp on a Team Quest.  The afternoon was spent indoors learning camp songs, activities, and more!  What we love most about these days is the time we get to spend together.  Check out what all we did to become better teachers for your family.

The Directors from each center had to pump up everyone in the morning.  They did so by singing YMCA and pulled Mr. Austin up on stage!

 Ready for our quest.

We gathered at the Front Porch Amphitheater for the morning session.  The scenery was beautiful!

 Working together.

The afternoon session with Ms. Lisa!

 Presenting their teamwork.

Conference days got us all excited!

 But first...lemme take a selfie!  :)

Roaming through camp for our next challenge.

Ms. Kylie was brave enough to climb the wall!

Ms. Megan made it all the way to the top of Mount Widji!

We needed a little rest from that heat during lunch time, haha!

 Camp AoCS!

 We loved seeing the collaboration!

What an amazing team we have at AoCS!

Mother Goose

This month is all about Nursery Rhymes and who better to visit than Mother Goose?!  We had a talking goose for our younger classes to enjoy today and we also had some amazing grandmothers come to read. We are so thankful for families who participate in our program and volunteer their time.  Thank you to everyone who came!

Jameson was so excited his grandmother came.

He got to sit beside her as she read.

Aubrey's grandmother came to read to Infant Two.

 They loved her stories!

Toddler Two was all ready to hear some nursery rhymes.

Logan's grandmother and Mother Goose were the perfect pair!

Sophia's grandmother also came to Pre-K One.

Parent Workshop: Potty Training 101

We want to thank Ms. Sharon Townsend with Childcare Resource and Referral for coming in and hosting a potty training workshop for our parents.  Potty training can be a daunting task and we want to support our families through the process.  At AoCS we are dedicated to bridging the connection from school to home so we can create a community within our walls where educators and parents work together.

Pre-K Prom 2016

Every year we celebrate our graduating Pre-K students with a prom.  It's a special night for them and their families before they embark on their new adventure of kindergarten which is quickly approaching...so bittersweet!  This year our theme was MINIONS.  We had such a fun evening.
