Baby Yoga

Today, Blooma Yoga came out to do yoga with our infant classes.  The teachers each got to pair up with an infant and do yoga with them.  We saw downward dog and happy baby pose, and well as lunges with our babies while singing fun songs about airplanes.  The teachers and infants both loved this special guest!

We Are a School Family

One part of being a school family is celebrating life's milestones together.  We are so happy that Ms. Shanice and Ms. Megan will soon be getting married!  We celebrated with a surprise wedding shower last night after our staff meeting.  We enjoyed a Carrabba'a catered dinner, homemade desserts, gifts and fun bridal games hosted by Ms. Dalilah.  It was such a fun night celebrating two of our school family members.

The Power of Music Week

We have been focusing on the Power of Music this week at the Academy of Cool Springs. Jake the Music Man came to our toddler class to help them learn all about music!  He sang silly songs, did silly dances, and let some of our toddlers try out his big bass!  Each one loved singing, clapping, and just being silly with music!  He is always so much fun to have visit, and he knows all the right songs to sing to get the students up and moving around.

School Family Fun

Our school family knows that when you work hard you also have to play hard!  A few of our amazing teachers stayed late last night for an epic after-hours paint fight.  By the looks of the pictures they had a blast!  #schoolfamily #squad #summerfun

Scissor Skills

The Importance of Scissor Skills

-The opening and closing motion of cutting with scissors helps children develop the small muscles in their hands otherwise known as fine motor skills. These muscles are crucial for holding a pencil or crayons and gripping and manipulating objects.
-Cutting also helps develop eye-hand coordination as children hold the paper with one hand and cut with the other while tracking the movement of the scissors with their eyes.
-Another important skill that is developed through cutting is bilateral coordination. Bilateral coordination involves using both sides of the body at the same time while each hand is performing different tasks. For example, to cut a square, the child must hold the paper with one hand and turn it while the other hand is not only opening and closing the scissors but also moving along the line.
Last month, our Pre K one class planted grass seed to learn all about plants.  They watered their grass and watched as it grew.  They then took their grass and used it today to practice their scissor skills by cutting it so it could grow tall again.
