Wintery Fun

With all of the wintery weather this week, check out some fun ideas for the whole family to enjoy!

Indoor Snowball Toss
A snowball toss is an excellent way to pass the time! Have the kids decorate 10 plastic cups to look like snowmen. Line the cups in a triangle on the floor, have the kids stand a few feet away, and then have them take turns tossing large cotton “snowballs” into the cups. Each sunken cup equals one point and the one with the most points at the end of each round wins!

Snow Painting
After the snow has let up a bit, take the kids outside and exercise their artistic sides with some snow painting. Fill several plastic bottles with water and food coloring, and then carefully poke holes in the tops of the caps. A snowy backyard makes for a great canvas!

Snow Movies
Pack the snow day away with some hot chocolate and some classic or family favorite movies.

Scavenger Hunt
Plan a scavenger hunt! Make maps for each child, and hide items throughout the house. This will keep the kids busy as they turn the house upside down in search of their treasure. One of our favorite scavenger hunt ideas is a pirate-themed treasure hunt.

Filling Our Teacher's Hearts with Love

Our families showed their love for our teachers this week by writing notes or drawing pictures on heart cutouts.  Then, we took those hearts and decorated the outside of their doors to show them all of the love!

Go Red For Women's Health

The Academy of Cool Springs wanted to show our support for women's heart health by wearing red. We loved seeing all of the red today!

What is Go Red For Women?

In 2004, the American Heart Association (AHA) faced a challenge. Cardiovascular disease claimed the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, yet women were not paying attention. In fact, many even dismissed it as an older man’s disease. To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease & stroke as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red For Women, a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.
