Mr. Bond the Science Guy!

Mr. Bond sent one of his special assistants to us during Five Senses week.  We talked about each sense and what each one does.  Then we rolled up our lab coat sleeves and got to experimenting!  We even got to learn about dry ice!  It's was super cool (pun intended!).

Water Safety

Thank you to Goldfish Swim School for visiting us today and teaching us about water safety.  Our first water play day of the summer is tomorrow and now we know how to keep ourselves safe.  They even brought their mascot, Bubbles the Goldfish!  The kids loved the presentation and learned a lot.

Kona Ice Block Party

We kicked off summer 2019 with a Kona Ice block party. Our kiddos came out to island music and enjoyed a refreshing treat on a hot summer day.  I think this summer is off to a good start.  :)

Kindergarten Boot Camp 2019

Kindergarten Boot Camp is off and running with our first cafeteria day of the year!

What is KBC?  Kindergarten Boot Camp is offered exclusively by The Academy and is a dedicated summer program that teaches important, yet often overlooked, skills needed to navigate kindergarten with confidence.  Skills such as carrying a lunch tray, returning a library book, or completing homework are examples of how we "train" our Academy kids to "be all they can be"!

Project Play(grounds)

As we switch over to our summer program next week we ramped up our playgrounds with new blocks, dress up, tools, and construction props.  A HUGE thank you to all of our amazing parents who donated items.  The kids are already having a BLAST!  We are looking forward to a fun-filled Project Play summer!

Spring Conference 2019

This past Friday was our annual Spring Conference!  This year's theme was Project Play and our educators had the privileged of hearing amazing speakers.  We started the day of with the one and only Dr. Jean!  She shared so many ideas and had our teachers up and dancing the majority of the morning.  We then learned about Adverse Childhood Experiences and the difference between tolerable/manageable stress verses toxic stress.  The last session before lunch focused on busting the myth that play is "just playing".  In the afternoon Mary Jo Huff shared her knowledge of puppet play in the classroom to promote literacy.  We then finished with Lisa Maddox-Vinson teaching how to build character through literacy.  Thank you to our parent company, Never Grow Up, for hosting such a wonderful day of training.
