Who gets up early on a Saturday to attend a training so they can be experts in their field? The AoCS teacher do! Yesterday we attended a training on Conscious Discipline. Conscious Discipline is the new social-emotional curriculum we are using in partnership with our academic curriculum, Frog Street Press. This curriculum helps us manage our classrooms with new methods that encourage the child taking responsibility for their actions verses traditional reward/punishment methods. It supports the concept of a school family and that everyone's job is to keep themselves and the members of their school family safe. We have just begun this program which can take three years to fully implement. However, we have already seen major differences in our classrooms. We are thrilled to start using Conscious Discipline more and look forward to hosting a parent training in the near future.
