MUD DAY - a sensory experience

This week at AoCS we are saying YES to the mess!!!
Take a peek at MUD DAY! 😜
Sensory Play is such an important aspect to brain development in young children. It enhances all of their senses and allows them to connect to the world in a more meaningful way. Often times, as adults we are tempted to say no to messy play, but early brain research encourages otherwise! Actually, a great deal of responsibility can be taught through showing the children how to clean up alongside you. This increases their independence and empowers them. Through sensory play children are not only developing their senses and the neurological pathways associated with that, but they can also increase their fine and gross motor skills, communication/collaboration skills, and engages them in imaginative play. Whew, to be 3 again, right?! While it may seem overwhelming, sensory play can be facilitated with the most simple of household items or supplies that can be easily found! If you are not already making messy play a part of your world with your little one, please give it shot! There are thousands of ideas online to give you a jumping off point!
