Guitar Pratice

Ms. Michele brought in a guitar for art and music week.  The kids loved hearing her strum the strings and they even got a turn to try it as well!

I Spot a Rock Star!

We launched Awesome Artist week with a rock star dress up day.  Check out our Academy kids ready to ROCK the day!

Flubber

Ms. Sebrina wanted even more sensory fun during science week so she had her friends make flubber.  We learned that some animals have blubber and this is similar.  Blubber helps keep animals warm in cold weather.  When we put our hands in the flubber we could feel our hands staying warm.

 Mixing and measuring.

Being very careful as we pour.

Flubber time!

Rain in Clouds

Ever wonder how it rains?  Preschool One can tell you how.  They conducted a fun experiment for science week that taught them all about how rain falls from the clouds.  To see how they did this experiment or to try it at home, watch this YouTube video!

We are proud of our experiment.

She loved watching it "rain" in the jar!

DNA Strands

Mad Scientist week wrapped up with one final special snack...DNA strands!  We learned DNA is what makes us who we are.  Everyone has DNA that is special to just them!  So we used twizzlers, marshmallows and toothpicks to construct our strands.

Potion Lab!

Mad Scientists must have a lab to work in.  This morning we turned our kitchen into a lab were we could mix potions (aka colored water).  The kids got busy using their fine motor skills to mix and measure, scoop and pour!  This activity combined art, creativity, math, science and more!

Ms. Lindsay helping us with our potions!

Working together to mix our potions.

What tools will should I use?

 Careful not to spill.

 Pouring it all out!

Sticking our tongues out help us concentrate.

Making sure the amount is JUST right!

Gravity Tube Experiments

Pre-K Two learned about gravity this week.  The made tubes out of construction paper and dropped their pom poms down the tubes to the ground.  Things got really interesting when we started putting our tubes together.

Ms. Sara the Mad Scientist helping to hold two sets of tubes together.

Will it work the same if we lay them on the ground?

We had the great idea to tape them to the wall.

There goes the pom pom!  It falls to the ground because of GRAVITY!
