Children and nature go
together—or should. Recent studies document the importance of introducing
children to the natural world, beginning in the early years. Their social,
emotional, and physical health depends on this exposure to develop. Humans are
hardwired to need nature—because we are part of it.
This week we are exploring the Power of Nature. Our Pre-K 2 class took
advantage of the cooler weather to head outside and explore nature.
They had their morning circle time outside and talked about the weather
and all of the sounds and sights they saw in nature. Then, they headed
off to the playground to do some tree bark rubbings and to go on a
nature walk.
