Let's talk a little about fine motor skills...

It’s never too early to start working on fine motor skills, in fact, developing fine motor skills in early childhood education helps build the foundation for important future skills like writing and self-care. Fine motor skills involves everything that uses small muscles that control the hand, fingers, and thumb. The development of hand muscles is essential for grasping actions and coordination of finger movements. Hence why it is super important that you provide opportunities that are fun and interactive for your child. Fine motor skills also helps perform important tasks like writing, drawing, feeding themselves, grasping toys, buttoning and zipping clothes. There a ton of fine motor skill actives so make sure to keep the actives fun to make them want to explore. Below there’s a few activities you can try:

  • Coloring
  • Cutting
  • Writing
  • Play Dough activities
  • Beading Necklace
  • Puzzles
  • Dressing dolls
